DescriptionCap for infant child of white linen embroidered with white linen and cotton threads in a design of half moon shapes and dot clusters. Cap made of two panels joined by linen bobbin lace insertions running front to back across the top of the head, with a circular insertion at the center back of the crown. Cap has two tucks around the face from ear to ear. Center back is gathered to lace insert with smocking.ProvenanceDonated to Old Salem by Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Pinckney of Richmond, Virginia, and said to be worn by a Charleston Pinckney family child.
